Droitwich – An Excellent Spa Community – Travel
Located in the state of Worcestershire, Droitwich (or Droitwich Spa take its full name) has a populace of roughly 25,500 and is situated on the banking institutions of the River Salwarpe.
During the Roman period the settlement was referred to as Salinae, perhaps due to the very brackish drinking water that is found in the area. Merely the Dead Sea contains more salt per fluid ounce. The water pumped up through under the town is far more salty than even sea water. It was the properties of the water that allowed the city to develop a reputation being a spa and health resort. Over the last few years Droitwich grew to become infamous as a town which was severely hit by flooding during the severe storms of 2007.
Historically the towns in this part of the UK were related by canals. Though several have fallen into disrepair work is afoot to restore them to their particular past glory.
If you plan about spending a few days in Droitwich there are many activities to keep you busy. There are excellent shopping arcades as well as squares that you can leisurely walk around.
